Oh my! I do not like the season ending on January 1. With parties running late into the night, or early into the morning. Then an annual Jan 1 golf outing that I should have outgrown decades ago, leaves your aging commish little time… or enthusiasm to write a closing article for the season. But like the postman and the Dunkin Donut man, duty calls.

Out two championship games produced few surprises and even fewer competitive games. Two blow out performances result in two brand new champions.

FALCONS DOMINATE BRILLIANT BOWL VIII

The Gritz Blitz Falcons were one of the best teams all season, and turned in a dominating 136 – 72 victory in Brilliant Bowl VIII. Lamar Jackson was the game MVP with 46 points for the Falcons. Isiah Pacheco added another 22. Three other Falcons reached double digits, most notabely the Jaguars defense who had 18.

For the Raiders, it is a second straight near miss, ending two consecutive season as league runner up. Josh Allen had a solid game with 23 and Aaron Jones had 13. But the rest of the team was lacking. Especially Amari Cooper who went from forty plus points in the semis to zilch in the championship game. That is definitely one of the more frustrating aspects of fantasy football.

The Falcons end the season with 12 wins, counting their three wins in the post season. That is the most in the BMFFL. They also earn the top prize of $35, to be paid soon. Congratulations Rob Fain.

BEERCATS CLAIM EDISON BOWL I

You could see this coming a mile away at the end of the season. It was certainly not a guarantee, but the Beercats had dominated the league in points scored and just seemed primed to win this championship.

There were common denominators in the two championship game outcomes. One was named was Lamar Jackson. Jackson’s 46 points went straight into the Beercats point column. The other was named Isiah Pacheco, though Pacheco was not the second highest scorer for the Beercats. That went to, as many of you Bengal fans laments, Harrison Butker. Butker had six field goals, 24 points and more or less single footedly booted the Bengals out of the playoffs.

For Bane, Baker Mayfield turned in a respectable 24. But only two other players go to double digits. Disappointing end for Bane, who finished in third in his division and will not pocket any of the coveted prize money.

For the Beercats, they to will receive $35 in championship money. The three wins in the playoffs get them above 500 for the season at 9-8. Congratulations Ryan Smith.

BEERCATS CLAIM EDISON BOWL I
I do have a l little business to carry out with a couple of you. For those that won money, I will try to connect with you this week in the office and pay cash. Some of the newcomers I have not met and I certainly would like to.

A few of you are delinquent and have not paid your entry fees. That is a major no-no and Commissioner Grinch will come knocking this week.

THANK YOU
Hard to believe the season is over and one with. I sincerely hope you enjoyed the league you were in. I appreciate you letting me combine the articles. That saves me time and effort, and I hope leads to some new friendships in years to come. I think there is potential overlap as we work on a common product, which if it expands into the commercial side, will see members of the two leagues working together. Maybe I’ll revisit the promotion and relegation idea at that time.

Thank you and look for invites next August 1 for the 2024 season. This will be the last articles of the season.
