To catch up for the year missed, two owners and two teams join the ranks of the all time greats of the Tailgaters Fantasy Football League. The owners are an interesting pair with very similar stories. But we’ll start with the Hall of Fame teams.
2019 OKY DUCKS The 2019 Oky Ducks finished the regular season 11-2, easily winning the Paul Brown division by a whopping five games. They went a perfect 4-0 against their division rivals and were the top scoring team in the league to win the Team of the Year. It was the second Team of the Year award in Ducks history. The division crown was part of a much more impressive feat. The 2019 Paul Brown Division championship was part of a run where the Ducks won five consecutive division titles, and a nine year run of finishing first or second in their division that is still alive today. Hope I’m not in the Ducks division this year. Unfortunately as happens with so many great teams, the one and done nature of the playoffs shot the Ducks down. After winning their opening round playoff game, the Ducks fell to I Got Boom 114-99. It was a tough way to end a great season. The 2019 Oky Ducks were led by quarterback Tom Brady, who the Ducks amazing got in the twelfth round of the draft. Talk about your steals. Christian McCaffrey was still a Carolina Panther in 2019, and was the teams leading scorer with 355 points. John Brown of the Bills was the Ducks top receiver. Congratulations Mark Douyere and the 2019 Oky Ducks 2022 MULTIPLE SCOREGASMS The 2022 Multiple Scoregasms established Todd Hendrixson as a league champion, and was the start of the fifth back to back championship runs in league history, and the first since 2012. A 10-4 regular season was good enough to capture the Paul Brown division. The three playoffs wins gave Scoregasms a final record of 13-4. The 2022 Scoregams are the first team for Todd Hendrixson to make the Hall of Fame. Now that is not as bad as it sounds. There are only 13 teams enshrined in our Hall of Fame. That is out of 314 teams that have played in the league. So less than 5% of teams in league history have received this award. It may be the most prestigious recognition we have in the league. Sorry, I got a little off topic there. Jalen Hurts was a huge part of Scoregasms success. He scored 437 fantasy points and was an league All Star that season. Leonard Fournette was the leading running back and AJ Brown, who very conveniently was Jalen Hurts top target, let Scoregasms in receiving. Which means Scoregasms were often doubling up on points. Congratulations Todd Hendrixson and the 2022 Multiple Scoregasms. TODD HENDRIXSON Todd should have received his jacket last year. Todd’s history may confuse some at first. He played his first season in the league back in 1998. I do not recall what happened that Todd didn’t stay in the league. But it would be sixteen years later when Todd returned to the TFFL for good. Since returning in 2014, Todd has played under the name Multiple Scoregasms. A consistent performer in the regular season, Todd made the playoffs ten out of twelve years. Scoregasms have a 102-91 all time record for a very respectable 547 all time winning percentage. Scoregasms are a two time champion and won the 2017 Team of the Year. They are a five time division winner and ten time playoff team in thirteen seasons. Success was modest in those early years. It all came together in 2022 when Scoregasms won their division and swept the playoffs to win Tailgater Bowl XXIV. Scoregasms returned the next season and won their second straight championship in Tailgater Bowl XXV. Because championship weigh so heavily in the Hall of Fame statistics, these two seasons pushed Todd Hendrison into the Hall of Fame tier. Congratulations Todd Hendrison, Tailgaters Fantasy Football League Hall of Fame Class of 2025. DAVE STUBENRAUCH Dave is the third longest tenured owner who was not an founding member of the league. Dave completed his twentieth season last year. Dave has gifted our league with some of the most colorful and creative team names over the years. It started with the Pissed Platypussies from 2002 to 2005. When the league returned in 2010, the Mainville Mudpuppies and then the Mainville Mudpies were his identity from 2010 to 2018. Following a job move to Virginia, Dave took on the name of a local landmark and became the Great Dismal Swamp Monsters. Like Todd above, the Swamp Monsters early years were modest. It may not be fair to pin that on the Swamp Monsters name, must of that happened under previous names, and presumably different management. It was that first season as the Great Dismal Swamp Monsters as the took advantage of a seven seed and ran the table to the 2019 TFFL Championship in Tailgater Bowl XXI. Then last year, the Swamp Monsters earned their second championship by winning Tailgater Bowl XXVII, and will enter the 2026 season as your defending champion.
