OK, maybe a touch overstated on the title. Regardless, the two championship games are set in our respective leagues. Brilliant Bowl VII will feature Rimskis Raiders and the Gritz Blitz Falcons. The err… I don’t have a name. Let use Edison Bowl I will be played between the Beercats and Bane. How did those teams get there. Keep reading and find out.

Rimskis Raiders are making their second consecutive appearance in the Brilliant Bowl. The advanced this season by dropping long time rival Willow Run Flyers 138-87. The Raiders were anchored by amazing performance by Amari Cooper, who scored 40 points as a wide receiver. Josh Allen post a solid 28 and from there the Raiders were off plundering for spoils.

The season closes for the Flyers with a disappointing performance from QB Brock Purdy, who was benched after four interceptions. While a handful of players came through with good games, it wasn’t enough to offset the Raider offensive explosion.

The Raiders will face a newcomer to the league. Not interested in the prestige and history of our humble league, the Gritz Blitz Falcons are blasting their way through the playoffs and making there own personalized history. In the Semis, they eliminated Steel City FooBall 104-95, in a pretty good game that saw the Falcons rally from behind on Monday night.

The comeback was executed by Lamar Jackson, who had 26 and Christian McCaffrey, who had 19. Calvin Ridley also added 19 for the Falcons. Jalen Hurts led the way for FooBall with 27, and Jason Sanders scored 22 as a kicker. Wow. But it wasn’t enough and FooBall’s season comes to an end.

In the EWFFL, beware the Beercats. I told you if they got in they would be dangerous. The Rally Possums gave them all they could handle, nearly taking down the Team of the Year. But the Beercats prevailed 125-120. Ironically, they had the exact same tandem that Gritz Blitz had above. Jackson and McCaffrey authored a Monday Night come from behind victory by a scant five points. Breece Hall was actually the Beercats leading scorer, he had 31 points.

Joe Flacco led the way for the Possums with 34 and Puka Nacua (remember way back in September when he was the hottest free agent… seems like a long time ago) had 24. The Possums are a hard luck team, finishing second in their division and missing out on prize money in the playoffs.

Bane will be the opponent for the Beercats in Edison Bowl I. They knocked off Shakedown 91-75 to advance to the title game. Baker Mayfield had 23 for Bane in the win, outduelling Patrick Mahomes, because, you know, everyone knows in a head to head matchup you want Baker Mayfield over Patrick Mahomes. What is this fantasy world coming to.

Shakedowns season ends with only two wins in the last two months. And they both came against your humble commissioner. This will not go unpunished, and you can expect Shakedown to have a lousy draft position and a loaded schedule next season.

BRILLIANT BOWL VII Are the Falcons for real? The won their first seven. But went 2-5 down the stretch. They now have won three in a row, but can you trust them in a one game winner take all scenario. They have scored a hundred plus in each of the last four weeks, which at least indicates they should be competitive.

The Raiders have an axe to grind. Sure, they got revenge on the team that beat them in the title game last year. But the deed is not done unless they bring home the championship this year.

The Falcons have Lamar Jackson and Christian McCaffrey. That is a formidable duo that anyone would like to take into a single game. The receiving corp isn’t as deep and could be a weak spot. The Raiders have Josh Allen, the top scoring QB in the league. Amari Cooper is coming off a 40 point game, but you cannot reasonably expect anything like that again this week.

These teams played at the beginning of the season in week two when the Falcons were red hot. They won that meeting by less than a point, 104.2-103.3. I think this one is a close one, but the Falcons prevail. Scammer predicts Falcons 106, Raiders 102.

EDISON BOWL I The Beercats enter Edison Bowl I with the sort of confidence you can only have when you’ve been on a four month bender. The record isn’t pretty. Doesn’t have to be. They have just the appropriate combination of swagger and stagger. Besides, who wouldn’t be confident seeing Baker Mayfield thru your beer-goggles lined up across from you.

I really don’t want to give Bane a chance. We just cannot seriously be facing the possibility of handing our first league championship trophy to Baker Mayfield. We have to establish some level of credibility for our upstart league. But Bane has no other QBs on their roster. So it will be Baker under center this weekend. Saquon Barkley and the best receiving in the league, Tyreek Hill, will be there to provide support to Mayfield.

As mentioned above, the Beercats have Lamar Jackson and Christian McCaffrey. They have seven other players, but probably won’t need them. Oh, they’ll need a few points from them. But not a lot.

It would appear I have an unhealthy bias in this game. Nothing against either owner. I just can’t buy into Baker Mayfield as an NFL QB. Maybe more accurately, I won’t. Be assured, this bias does not influence my prediction in any way. I use the same scientific principals that have led me to probably a perfect prediction record (I don’t feel like going back and checking, other than to admit it look like a missed an entire game last week). Scammer predicts Beercats 115, Bane 103

Good Luck to all four teams playing this weeknd.
