The Renegades saved their best game of the season just to win the Big Banana for 2023. After losing earlier in the season to the Scammers by like 30, it was going to take a bunch of points to peel away that margin. Thanks in no small part to Player of the Week Trevor Lawrence who had 36, the Renegades split the season series with the Scammers 130-84. Its probably OK, the Scammers were ripe for the picking having won their previous eight. Should be little more than bruise on their season.
A tip of the cap to the schedule writer this week. I know I was impressed by the matchups dialed up this week. Out of six games, we had two stinkers. The afore mentioned game and the game where the Birds played with less than a full flock. iGotBoom won that game 109-66. But the rest of the game!, Holy Cow. The margins for the other four games were 3.4, 2.3, 2.0 and 0.6. Combined they were under ten points. The best was the Milford Marauders squeaker against Multiple Scoregasms, 98.9-98.3. Tough defeat for Scoregasms who are struggling after losing the top QB. Not the case for the Marauders, who got 30 from Josh Allen and remain atop the Halas division at 7-4. The Great Dismal Swamp Monster had to go to Monday Night to secure their victory. Isiah Pacheco did little more than he had to to give the Monsters the come from behind win 96-94. CJ Stroud continues to be the surprise of the season, and may lead the Monsters to something special. He had 25 to lead all players in the game. The Kentucky Moondogs scored a 94-92 victory over Lamar You Serious as they try to keep pace with the Marauders in the Halas division. Justin Herbert and Lamar Jackson dueled it out in this game, with Herbert coming out three points ahead. That was effectively the margin in the game. Tough loss for Serious who is still trying to navigate into the playoffs. And last was the Warriors, who won, but may have lost. They won despite Joe Burrow getting his last ten points of the season. The Warriors needed every one of them in the 93-90 win over the Oky Ducks. Vultures will be circling in the Lombardi division as the Warriors first place position falls into the hands of Baker Mayfield or Geno Smith. PLAYOFF PICTURE If the season ended today…My favorite articles to write each season are the playoff picture articles the last three weeks. Its just kind of fun to see the prospects of every team. All the projections are unofficial, but hopefully accurate. 1. Scammer vs 8. Multiple Scoregasms 4. IGot Boom vs. 5. Great Dismal Swamp Monsters 2. Milford Marauders vs. 7. Kentucky Moondogs 3. Warriors vs. 6. Dans Destroyers Right now there is a clean break between 5-6 and 4-7 for the last playoff spot. Team by Team Projections… Below are what teams can or cannot clinch this week. Marauders v Swamp Monsters. And the result was as close as most of the games this week. Both teams won. Both teams won narrowly. But it was the Marauders who won Survivor by a score of 89.9 to 96.8 over the Swamp Monsters. Congratulations Milford Marauders for being the league’s ultimate survivor. Since there are three weeks left, we’ll do a second chance survivor for three team who had the most Team of the Weeks, or scored the most points as Team of the Week. The Oky Ducks posted two TOW in weeks 8 and 10. That gets them into the second chance tourney. I Got Boom also had two. They came in weeks 3 and 7. So Boom is in. Nobody else had two TOWS. That leaves two spots for the highest scoring TOW from the remaining teams. I guess it is appropriate and fair that the team that just got knocked out gets this spot. The Swamp Monsters own the best game in the league this year. They scored 159 in week 5. The last team is this weeks TOW. The Renegades 130.5 gets them in after both Ducks games and one of the Boom games are passed over because they are already in. GAME OF THE WEEK 
Game of the Week always takes a twist this time of year. I can go with the best teams who are playing. Or look to a matchup of teams fighting for their playoff lives. I’m going the latter this week. The Renegades and the Oky Ducks are teams with long histories of success. The Ducks are a former champion and have ten division championships in twenty two seasons. The Renegades are three time league champions. These are not teams accustomed to missing the playoffs. As a matter of fact, the Renegades have only missed once since 2018 and the Ducks haven’t missed since 2016. The most unbelievable stat… the Ducks have a five season division champion streak! But both teams enter their week twelve matchup 4-7. A loss won’t actually eliminate either team, but it will put them in a cannot lose again situation. The winner could potentially find themselves tied for that coveted last playoff spot. Or at least draw to within a game of multiple teams. The Renegades will probably go with Trevor Lawrence. Hes coming off a Player of the Week performance. The Ducks will counter with Duk…errr Dak Prescott, who had flashed moments of brilliance this season. Its desperation time. Tune into this game to see if the Renegades can axe the Ducks, or if the Ducks can fly away. |
