Today marks the end of Hall of Fame weekend with the induction of a new owner and a new team into the Hall of Fame. No long monologue today. Here are the new inductiees.
ROB SIMPSON
Rob Simpson has been waiting patiently for his call to the Hall of Fame. Playing in his thirteenth season, Rob is a two time league champion. His .580 winning percentage entering the season was the best among all active owners in the league. And his seven wins this year have him on the cusp of the one hundred win milestone. All twelve of his season have been played under the Warriors nickname.
Rob joined the league in 2012. His championships came at the end of the 2017 season in Tailgater Bowl XIX then then again four years later in 2021 in Tailgater Bowl XXIII. Rob is a five time division champion, including both of the league championship seasons. He is a two time team of the Year, in 2013 and 2021. He has had two Player of the Year award winners. Peyton Manning in 2013 and LaMarr Jackson in 2019. That makes the Warriors one of three teams (Marauders and Renegades are the other two) to completed the triple crown twice.
The two Warrior championship teams have both earned induction into the TFFL Hall of Fame, honoring them among the best fantasy teams in league history. With Rob’s induction, all owners with two or more league championships are now in the Hall of Fame. Congratulation Rob Simpson on becoming the ninth owner inducted into the Tailgaters Fantasy Football League Hall of Fame.
2014 LEFTOVERS
I won’t deny being mildly surprised when I saw this team come to the top of the list of teams eligible for the Hall of Fame. I frankly forgot how good this team was. Yet, somehow, it seems very fitting that a team called “Leftovers” would make the Hall of Fame on Thanksgiving weekend.
The Leftover went 1102 in the 2014 season. They won the Don Shula Division by four games. The opened the season with five straight wins, then closed the regular season and opening two rounds of the playoffs with another six game winning streak. During the regular season, they had the Player of the Year in Andrew Luck, and won the Team of the Year for the most points scored. The look destined to become the first single season triple crown winner.
Of all teams, the Scammers foiled the dream season for the Leftovers in Tailgater Bowl XVI. Regrettably owner Carl Bible would only play one more season before leaving the league. But his 2014 Leftovers team will always have a place in the League Hall of Fame.
